Resource Library
After a long reorganization and thanks to some great volunteers, we are finally ready to open our TDS Art Library. Starting October 1, active Associate Members of TDS will have the added benefit of being able to check out books, along with staff and faculty. The library will also be open to enrolled students for in-house use on a schedule to be determined soon.
Since our move to our downtown home, we have received with thanks hundreds of books from many of our friends, including major donations from Mel and Robin Ritter, and the entire art study collection of Prof. T.O. Beidelman of New York University, scholarly works central to art history covering every part of the world.
To get us catalogued and organized, we owe our gratitude to a number of Volunteer Staff: Diane Colligan, Irma Lopez and Laura Boles for the first steps in receiving and organizing the new gifts. It is MaryAnn Johns, however, whom we especially thank for researching and setting up a software cataloguing system, and then contributing hours of her time every week to the work of cataloguing nearly 2000 books into a database that allows us to track each and every volume.
We invite everyone to drop in and become acquainted with the depth and breadth of our collection. In future issues of our newsletter and website, we will include the TDS Library in our regular reports, along with suggestions for how to use this resource to explore the great family of art-makers to inspire your own work in new directions.
